Michel, Pierre, Barthelemy Delmas

I was born on August 28, 1947 in Saint-Hippolyte (12), France; married at Mau-Hoa Quach on February 10, 1975 in Phnom Penh (Cambodia). We have two sons, Guo-Fang born in Paris on March 27th, 1978 and Guo-Hua born in Toulouse on June 9th, 1982.

I have obtained some diplomas, from my certificate of primary studies in 1958 to the Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1971 then the Doctorate in Sciences in 1980.

I am now Professor Emeritus at the University of Toulouse and President of BioEB company (www.bioeb.fr).

I did most of my university research work in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Toulouse: The National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse; in the framework of the National School of Chemical Engineering and Technological Arts and more particularly today in the Laboratory of Chemical Engineering – STPI.

My career around the World began in October 1971, after my PhD in Organic Chemistry, by a two-year stay at the University of Montreal (Canada) where I continue training through research and gives my first lessons.

I am, from October 1st 1973, appointed Professor at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia).

The state of war which prevailed in the country forbid, for lack of means, the research activities. Most of my time was devoted to teaching.

A brutal occurrence due to the state of war put an end to my mission on March 17, 1975 and, after a waiting period in Thailand and Laos, I have been appointed at the new Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Sfax (Tunisia).

I will remain six years during which I have created several demonstrations and lessons in mineral and organic chemistry.

I then became Associate Professor at the National Polytechnic Institute of the University of Toulouse on October 1st, 1981 and was appointed Professor on April 1st,1983.

It was a turning point in my career since I have reversed my working travels. I did not go to Toulouse but I left to different places in the world.

I had the opportunity to create and manage different laboratories and promoted a great number of national and international cooperation with different companies and universities till today.

standard

So I have been involved in research and development programs of academic and / or industrial nature, of course, in France and in the European Union, but also in North and South America, North and East Africa. Southeast Asia and the Caribbean.

In recognition of these works, Mr. Hubert Curien, Minister of Research and Technology, gave me on October 2nd, 1991 the medal of the National Order of Merit.

In addition to my academic duties, in 1992, I created a consultant company (RCS Toulouse 388341190 – NAF 741G) and was registered as an Expert in Chemistry and Environment at the Court of Appeal of Toulouse in the regulatory framework provided by law that allowed me to simultaneously perform these activities perfectly complementary.

Too busy with my other activities, I ended, at my request in early 2014 to my duties at the court.

To go to the end of my logic of the development, I was at the origin of the creation and / or the development of some companies

Among the most significant : CIMV company

It was the first to promote my concepts of plant biorefining based on the separation without degradation and pollution of the components of lignocellulosic residues (straw, wood, bagasse, energetic plants, etc.) at an industrial scale.

The company, created in 1998, implements the vegetal refining in acetic acid / formic acid medium at 105 ° C to quantitatively produce 2G bioethanol and biolignin.

I left CIMV in June 2016, from a strategic dispute, but in good agreement with the major shareholder of the company.

Last but not least : BioEB company

BioEB was created in September 2018 after 2 years of research carried out within the framework of my Consulting Office where I developed the energy content of cellulose, via synthesis gas (SYNGAS) and the atmospheric carbon dioxide cycle. From my concept of vegetal refining, the process uses only formic acid around 85 °C, below the boiling point of water, which is a great discovery in the domain actually.

I was able to file 5 European patents that are in the process of international extension and 11 trademarks that define and protect the LEEBIO ™ technology. BioEB has the exclusive licenses for LEEBIO™ technology patents and trademarks and is responsible for its industrial development.

The analytical and experimental demonstration that lignin, in particular LEELIGNIN™, is a set of regular and homogeneous oligomers has been published and approved by the scientific community.

LEELIGNIN™ is able to substitute weight-per-weight phenol and its derivatives in all their applications as well as a good number of industrial hydroxylated molecules of petroleum origin like PEG, therefore with an identical economic value.

The paradigm that associated lignin to a very cheap application value is broken. It therefore becomes the essential and most valued oligomer of lignocellulose.

This work demonstrated that a decisive and determining part of the energetic future of our planet resides simply in the endless cycle of atmospheric carbon dioxide.

They were made possible by private and public investment, in particular from the European Union, of almost 100 million euros over ten years. The main European contracts were : BiocoreInnobiteBiomimetic and 2G-Biopic.

I was at the origin of 2G-Biopic program, part from the H2020 program, which has been validated by the European Union. However, it has not be finalized, which was the reason for my departure from CIMV in 2016.
